Episode 5: Now What?

Knowing your child’s element type is so helpful in handling behavior or in just being able to get to know your child better and understand what makes them tick.

Knowing the element type helps you understand who they are deep down inside. What is their essence? Who are they? Why do they get afraid or anxious about certain things? What makes them feel really happy and enlivened with life? What are the different components to their personality and their temperaments? The element type can really help you figure the stuff out. It’s a really holistic approach that helps you go beyond the behavior of your child.

The five element types are wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

So what now? You know your child’s type, what is the next step?

Every element has a motivator, the things that enliven them, as well as triggers. It’s our job as parents to help them figure out how to deal with their triggers.

As a parent it’s really easy to just focus on behavior. Behavior can make us feel uncomfortable, make us unsure of what to do, piss us off, and just be a nuisance. A child’s behavior is the driving force as to what stresses parents out! But in case you haven’t already figured it out, kids are not here to make your life comfortable and convenient! They are here to challenge us, make us laugh, make us cry, make us swear, make us jump with joy, everything.

But ultimately I think that they are here to teach us.

And really understanding their element type can help you know how to respond  be more prepared for what might bring out some behavior in your child, and have yourself in a place where you can respond, rather than react.

And that isn’t always easy! But knowing what your child’s element type is, what motivates them and what triggers them will help!
