Episode 2: Discussion of Fire and Earth Elements

In today’s episode, I am continuing our discussion on Eastern medicine in parenting and children’s behavior.

In Episode 1 I started talking about how each person is an element type. How you’re born with your element type, and how it is what makes you tick. It’s what drives your personality, drives your interactions with the world around you. And there are five different element types. Last week I covered the Wood element. There are also Fire, Earth, Water, and Metal. Once you learn what your child’s element type is, you can learn their stressors, what will set them off, and what will bring out the best in them.

So in today’s episode, I am continuing on discussing the Fire and Earth elements.

The nickname of a Fire child is a leader. They are really charismatic, really fun to be around. They love people, and people love them. They are enthusiastic, a,d up, up, optimistic, they wear their heart on their sleeve, are really sensitive, and show every emotion they are feeling. Which also means they are dramatic. They like to be the center of attention.

They can be the class clown, but if they get bored, maybe a distraction. They are very highly distractable and can result in them being the inattentive ADHD child.

Because they are fire children, they just go, go, go and enjoy life. So their stressors, as a result, are boredom.

Next, I talk about the earth element.

With Chinese medicine, you have your Yin and Yang. The Wood and Fire are your Yang. The earth is more right in the middle, not too much of one or the other, and the Water and Metal are your Yin

The earth is your peacemaker. They love people, and love to be around them, but don’t need to be the center of attention as much as fire. They love their caregivers, from teachers to babysitters, to grandparents. They also hate when there is lots of fighting around them. It is their biggest stressor because it is disrupting their harmonious nature.

The Earth element child is very easygoing, and they don’t like to make waves. They won’t be the kid in school raising their hand, because they like to blend in.

Their biggest emotion is worry. But you may not know that. They’re not going to speak up and say, so be aware of that!

Their motivators are being around people, although, not being the center of attention.
