Episode 1: Introduction to me, Traditional Chinese Medicine, the 5-elements and deeper dive into the wood element

In today’s episode, I’m sharing with you a little about myself, and what brought me to practicing holistic medicine, and how I now blend western medicine with eastern medicine.

The eastern way is much more holistic because it approaches the person or child from all perspectives. In eastern medicine, the way to approach any kind of illness or problem is to get to the root of the problem. Thousands of years ago, the Chinese developed medicines, religions, the ways that they eat, and live all around the natural world around them. Everything was based on nature. It was the cornerstone of their medicine and their culture.

Here in the West, we tend to treat the surface symptoms/problems. If you don’t handle the root of the problem, the symptoms will continue to arise.

So how do you do that?

I want to share with you the Five Element Theory in Chinese medicine.

There are five elements related to nature, as well as in all of us. Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Over the next series of episodes, I will go through them individually and explain what they are all about.

Understanding a child’s element type will give you a different perspective on how to view their behavior, personality, and the way that they are. It’s not only refreshing to have an insight into this behavior and personality type, But it’s also a non-judgemental way to see your child type.

In today’s episode, I will start by covering the wood element type.

If you’d like to take a quiz, to find out your child’s element type, as well as your own, you can go to my website here
