Episode 13: Food and Behavior Go Way Beyond Just Sugar

Today’s topic is probably the most important thing, the most influential part of raising a child and affecting their behavior.

This is the one thing that is not difficult to bring into your child’s life and help with their cognitive abilities, their learning abilities, and their emotional health.

And that is all about what they eat.

This isn’t about what to try to get your child to eat, it’s more about what not to give your child to eat.

Food is our first medicine.

That is something I learned that in Chinese Medical School and ever since then I completely believe that. Food is our first medicine.

It’s easier to sometimes take a pill, but it’s not the way to go.

Food is the first thing you should go to to try and fix a problem or prevent a problem.

Preventing problems is what I want to talk about today. Preventing depression, anxiety, learning issues, and Autism, ADHD, and those kinds of things.

So why don’t we use food more often? It’s cheap, simple, and it’s all just changing how we feed our kids!

I’m going to get a little bit technical, but I want to share quickly in this episode the physiology as to why food is so important for behavior and learning conditions. (This won’t be too long, I promise!) But the reason I do this is that I personally like to know the why behind why we’re told things.

And hopefully, this helps what I’m telling you to make more sense, too.

Do you think you can’t cut out sugar, carbohydrates, and more of the crap food because your child is a picky eater? I give you some ways to start to slowly incorporate these changes into your child’s diet!
