Episode 30: April Lovett: The Yoga of Motherhood - Finding the Ease and Calm in the Midst of Chaos

My guest today is April Lovett! She will be sharing about her work as a Doula, being a childbirth educator, The Yoga of Motherhood - Finding the Ease and Calm in the Midst of Chaos!

April Lovett is the founder of Unfold Motherhood. She is a prenatal and postnatal fitness professional, birth doula, childbirth educator, and women's empowerment coach. She has worked with thousands of mamas over the last decade and is passionate about making motherhood easier, from pregnancy, birth, and well beyond.

As a birth doula, April supports her clients through their pregnancy and helps them get ready for their birth by educating them mentally, emotionally, and by working through any of their fears that they may have, helping the couple connect throughout their journey and then during the actual birth she is there to support them when they are ready either at their home or the birthing place.

If it is the partner’s first experience with birth she often guides them on what they could do to help support their spouse and work as a team to support mom to make sure she is comfortable and has everything she needs to bring her baby into the world where she feels calm and supported, whatever that is for her.

April supports women no matter what their plans are for birth. It can be if they decide to have an epidural, C-section, it doesn’t matter. What matters to her is that you’re educated, you’re making empowered decisions, and you’re supported.

She also helps her patients post-partum, and once you’re a mother post-partum never ends! She helps them process their birth experience, helps them with healing, uses her background as a movement teacher, as well as with breastfeeding, and more.

Both before delivery and post-partum help is so important! The work April does should be included in every woman’s pregnancy! This is what makes the work that April does so important because she is educating people on their journey and letting them know what is available to them.

April also works with her patients on making themselves a priority and teaches them how important it is for moms especially post-partum, but also for moms with children of ANY age!

How many times do we need to BREATHE when dealing with our teenagers? Putting little Post-its around your home as a reminder is a simple thing to do but an extremely effective thing to do. And one you can do even if you aren’t a mother!

If you are a mother, about to become a mother, or have children of any age and looking for support, you can find out more about April and her work here.
